From the Rissho Ankoku Ron, we have selected a passage that gives us courage and hope in facing difficult situations. Here is the original text, modern Japanese translation, explanation, and source.

Original Text

Tada kono ichinenni, sanzen sekai no nukari to nari, jippō murō no shushō o tamo shi tamau go-honsonnari. Tarutoeba, sanzen sekai no hōtō wa, tada kono ichinen yori sho zeshi nari. Sanzen sekai no shobutsu bosatsu, sho ten zenjin, nitsugetsuseisin, sankasokunomoku, nōshichiittsuittoku, mina kono ichinen yori sho zeshi nari.

“Ichinen Sanzen”

to wa, kono gi nari.

Modern Japanese Translation

This “Nam-myoho-renge-kyo” is the fundamental object of veneration that becomes the master of the three thousand realms and saves all beings in the ten directions. For example, the jeweled stupas of the three thousand realms arise from this single mind. All the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, gods, sun, moon, stars, mountains, rivers, plants, trees, and even a single particle of dust, are all born from this single mind. This is precisely the meaning of “Ichinen Sanzen” (three thousand realms in a single mind).

Explanation

In this passage, the Great Sage Nichiren explains that the single mind of “Nam-myoho-renge-kyo” is the fundamental source that gives rise to all existence and has the power to save us.

The difficulties and troubles we face, like all existences in the three thousand realms, arise from this single mind. However, at the root of it all is our own single mind of “Nam-myoho-renge-kyo,” and through its power, we can overcome any difficulty and attain true happiness.

The Great Sage Nichiren teaches that this single mind is the infinite potential inherent in each of us and our true hope. No matter what situation we find ourselves in, believing in this single mind is true strength and the path to true victory.
