An inspiring passage from the writings of Saint Nichiren

Original Text

Great difficulties will surely turn into great fortune.
For instance, a great medicine cures a great illness. A great blacksmith forges a great sword. A great ship crosses a great sea.
We, the practitioners of the Lotus Sutra, are people destined to encounter great difficulties. By encountering great difficulties, we arouse great faith and awaken to the great path of the Buddha’s teachings.
For example, gold becomes genuine through the test of fire. A gem shines after being polished. A plum tree releases its fragrance after enduring the cold.
We, the practitioners of the Lotus Sutra, by encountering great difficulties, arouse great faith and awaken to the great path of the Buddha’s teachings.
