Welcome to “Singularity Chanting”. This is a world of chanting practice in the metaverse. Here, you can experience clearing your mind’s filter without being caught up in ego or delusions. Let’s begin a journey to approach one mind, different bodies but same heart, while feeling the spirit of Nichiren who lived a harsh life in the extreme cold of Sado Island. By deeply feeling the connection between yourself and others, we can take a step closer to a more peaceful world.

Words of encouragement from Nichiren Daishonin’s writings:

Words of encouragement from Nichiren Daishonin’s “Reply to Shijo Kingo (On the Strategy of the Lotus Sutra)”

Original text

“For example, a mighty wind may topple a giant boulder, but even a breeze may cause it to crumble if it has been weathered by rain. Your faith is like this boulder. If your faith is weak, you may be easily swayed by even minor setbacks. But if your faith is strong and steadfast, no hardship can daunt you.”

Meaning

Even a massive rock can be shattered by a strong wind. Conversely, there are also immovable boulders that withstand any strong wind. Your faith is similar to this. With strong faith, you won’t be shaken by any difficulties, but with weak faith, you might falter even at the slightest breeze.

Explanation

This passage is from a reply to Shijo Kingo, explaining the importance of faith when facing difficulties.

Nichiren Daishonin strongly indicates that no matter how difficult the situation, it can be overcome with strong faith. Just as a boulder’s ability to withstand wind is determined by its strength rather than its size, the stronger our faith, the more we can overcome any difficulty.

However, if faith is weak, there’s a possibility of losing one’s religious conviction even at slight difficulties.

The sage asks us to have “strong faith”. To achieve this, it’s important to strengthen our faith through daily practice, propagation, and study of the writings.

Words of encouragement

This passage gives us courage to face difficulties. Let’s move forward believing that no matter what difficulties we face, we can surely overcome them if we have strong faith.
