An Encouraging Passage and Explanation from the Writings of Nichiren Daishonin

Original Text:

“No matter how degenerate and evil the Latter Day of the Law may be, those who chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, even if they do not chant with their whole heart, will surely receive the protection of the Buddha, be guarded by the heavenly gods, and live in peace and security in this life and be reborn in the Buddha land in the next. For instance, the five characters of Nam-myoho-renge-kyo are like a precious tower. In the precious tower, the seven Buddhas, eight Bodhisattvas, and all the heavenly gods gather to protect it. Those who chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo are like being in the precious tower. For instance, the five characters of Nam-myoho-renge-kyo are like a great treasure house. The great treasure house contains all the treasures, gold and silver, and all precious things. Those who chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo are like having a great treasure house.”
